With each moment, the heavens rotate like the turning of a Cosmic Kaleidoscope. Each configuration, a masterpiece, unfolds a unique narrative, perhaps never to be repeated again. The sky patterns present at each moment in time indicate a unique trajectory that reflects itself in human destiny patterns.
The heavens speak a language we need only decipher. The sages of India were master interpreters of this cosmic language, linking celestial patterns to human destiny in the unbroken 5000-year tradition of Jyotiṣa, or Vedic Astrology. They transmitted the profound revelation that the dance of the planets against the celestial canvas of the stars creates patterns that are mirrored throughout manifestation — from microcosm to macrocosm. Their core insights reveal the holographic nature of reality: As is the whole, so is the part. These wise ones then empowered us with the blueprints and tools to embark on the journey of finding our place in the universe through the decoding of these cosmic patterns.
This extraordinary journey, when successful, naturally evolves beyond the study of celestial patterns to the full blown cultivation and utilization of our inner light of wisdom and discernment. The true essence of Jyotiṣa, the Science of Light, resides in the cultivation of the inner light of Awareness. It is a journey of alignment with the majesty of nature without, and the mystery of Spirit within.

The ancient land of India has nourished and transmitted its wisdom through the ages and given us the tools to understand the karmic “backpack” we bring into this life. This journey begins with a strong foundation so that all the principles of Jyotisha which follow will have a solid basis.
Everyone, from brand new students to practicing astrologers, starts with the Basics class series. Establishing a shared vocabulary and group mind is very important. Basics 1 is offered in a series of ten weekly one-hour sessions. New classes start on an ongoing basis when there is a requisite number of students ready to go. Time and date is set by consensus of the students involved. Because we strive to align this platform as closely as possible with traditional teaching, classes are limited in size, ideally to 10-12 students. (Basics I is sometimes larger to allow for those who are exploring the initial class to see if it is a fit.) This allows us to actively encourage, interact with, and question each student during the session and ensures the experience is not passive and transactional.
Students with prior experience in the subject find the teaching methodology re-orients their approach to Jyotiṣa, and they find the projects assigned in Basics I useful and engaging. Students are expected to submit homework so they can engage with the material and we can assess what needs clarification. Homework also promotes participation in the class discussions. Students are further supported by optional (and lively!) weekly study groups led by a teaching assistant for no additional fee. There are four levels of Basics classes, each level consisting of 10 one-hour weekly classes. Homework and weekly study groups continue throughout the Basics series.
Following the completion of Basics I, students join ongoing Digestion and Content classes geared to their level.

Within our online saṅgha, many are dedicated to serving all beings through diverse modalities, seeking to incorporate Jyotiṣa into their skill set. Our holistic teaching extends beyond technical instruction; it encompasses the cultivation of students' subjectivity and ethics, drawing from the timeless wisdom of the Indian tradition.
